Collect the next useful profile field later

Ask for the minimum contact and consent data at signup, then request another field only when it unlocks an immediate customer benefit or operating decision.

Skip this if Signup programs with no later customer benefit or operational use for additional profile data

At signup, collect only the contact and consent data needed for the stated promise. Ask for another profile field later only when it unlocks an immediate customer benefit or a named operating decision.

Progressive profiling is not a license to assemble every available detail over time. It changes the timing of a justified request. W3C’s form guidance recommends asking only for information required for the current transaction or process.[1] Shopify Forms can collect fields, consent, tags, and automation inputs,[2] but the operator still owns purpose, timing, permission, accuracy, and deletion behavior.
