Use thematic filters only when the theme changes suitability
Offer shopper-facing themes such as occasion, use, or style only when each value has a governed product rule.
Skip this if Collections small enough to assess without narrowing or themes with no defensible assignment rule
Add a thematic filter only when the theme changes whether a product belongs in the shopper's consideration set. Every value needs a rule the merchandising team can apply consistently.
A thematic filter groups products by a shopper-facing idea such as occasion, activity, room, style, concern, gifting moment, or intended use. Unlike color or size, the value may be interpretive. That makes the governance decision more important than the control.
