There is no universal filter set. A useful filter represents a decision that removes products the shopper cannot or does not want to buy in that category.
Start with the catalog and buying task, not a list of “essential” filter types. Shopify Search & Discovery can build standard filters and custom filters from product options, metafields, or metaobjects, but the active theme must support storefront filtering.[1]
