Lessons

3 lessons, in order.

0/3
  1. Lesson 1: Design your offer architecture

Choose a small set of offers that fit the product, shopper, margin, and operation before configuring promotions.

    Locked
  2. Lesson 2: Set the free shipping threshold from your order distribution, not a round number

Set the threshold from representative post-discount order economics. Judge it on total contribution and conversion, with margin per order as a guardrail.

  3. Lesson 3: Choose the right bundle or kit structure

Define the shopper choice and operating model before selecting a Shopify bundle implementation.

Offer architecture connects the reason a shopper buys with the economics and operating rules the business must honor. The outcome is not more promotions. It is a smaller, deliberate set of offers that can be priced, explained, stocked, fulfilled, returned, and measured.

The decisions belong together because they share the same constraints. A bundle changes component inventory and returns. A shipping threshold changes which orders the store subsidizes. A gift changes eligibility and fulfillment. Shopify's own bundle documentation shows that component availability, channel compatibility, fulfillment, and returns can behave differently across the order lifecycle.1

Work in this order

First define the shopper job and the full operating constraint. Then choose the offer form. Model its economics before configuring Shopify, and only then write the storefront promise and acceptance cases. Configuration cannot repair a weak commercial decision.

Module diagnostic

Choose one active offer and answer:

  1. What shopper job does it serve?
  2. Which products, people, markets, dates, and order states qualify?
  3. Which costs and subsidies change when it is used?
  4. How do stock, fulfillment, support, returns, and reporting handle it?
  5. Does the message before cart match the result at checkout?
  6. What evidence would make the team keep, revise, or remove it?

Any missing answer is an architecture gap, even if the discount currently applies.

Assignment

Complete one offer brief covering shopper job, eligibility, economics, operational rules, storefront promise, validation owner, and removal condition. Run its critical checkout and return cases before launch.
