LockedLessons
4 lessons, in order.
- Lesson 1: Choose the image types this product needs
Build the gallery around the product questions shoppers must answer, not a universal image checklist.
Locked✓ - Lesson 2: Show product scale with a useful reference
Choose an in-scale image that makes physical size intuitive without replacing exact measurements.
Locked✓ - Lesson 3: Use a human model when the body answers a buying question
Commission model imagery when shoppers need body-relative scale, fit, drape, wear, or application context.
Locked✓ - Lesson 4: Use richer media only when motion or rotation adds evidence
Choose video or a 360-degree view when still images cannot efficiently answer a material product question.

Product media should help a shopper inspect what they cannot touch. The business outcome is a gallery that answers product-specific questions without wasting production budget on duplicate or decorative assets.
This module covers four connected decisions: which visual jobs the product needs, when scale or a human model matters, when video or a 360-degree view adds information, and whether every chosen asset remains useful at the resolution and zoom shoppers receive. Baymard's research shows that shoppers use imagery to judge physical scale.1 That is a mechanism to address when scale matters, not a reason to force the same shot list onto every catalog item.
Sequence the work from uncertainty to format. First list the questions a shopper must answer visually. Then choose the simplest image or media type that answers each one. Finally, inspect the live gallery on the devices and variants customers use. Shopify supports images across themes, while video and 3D display requires theme support.2
Module diagnostic
Open one important product and hide the description. Can you identify what is included, judge relevant scale and detail, understand use or fit, and distinguish variants from the gallery alone? Mark every unanswered question and every asset that adds no new information.
Assignment
Create a visual brief for that product. Give each proposed asset one shopper question, one required view, one acceptance check, and one owner. Remove duplicate angles. Confirm theme support before commissioning video or 3D.
