Make sign-in a short, recoverable route to an account task. Use the simplest authentication method the active Shopify account configuration supports, explain the verification step, and provide a visible escape when delivery or identity fails.
Current Shopify customer accounts use a passwordless email and one-time code flow. Stores can also offer Sign in with Shop or social sign-in, while a custom identity provider is a Shopify Plus capability.[1] These options remove password creation but do not remove friction from an unknown email, delayed code, inaccessible inbox, duplicate profile, or unclear redirect.
