Keep Address Line 2 available without forcing it on everyone

Make secondary address details optional, then decide whether the field should stay visible from real order usage.

Skip this if B2B checkout, where Shopify's customer-information settings do not apply

The decision: keep Address Line 2 optional, then hide it behind a clear reveal only when most shoppers do not need it. Do not select Don't include just to make checkout look shorter. A shopper who needs to enter an apartment, unit, floor, or department still needs a usable route to do it.

Baymard observed some checkout participants stopping, second-guessing Address Line 1, or entering information in the wrong field when Address Line 2 stayed open. In the tested interfaces, collapsing the field behind a clear link let shoppers who needed it find it without making everyone else interpret another input.[1] The public article does not disclose the full sample, device mix, or product-category scope, so it supports the mechanism and pattern, not a promised conversion result.
