Auto-redirect a search to a category page only when the query and category are a genuine one-to-one match and the category page offers a better exploration surface. Guide near-matches instead.
The benefit is not skipping a page. It is giving a product-type query the correct category filters, sorting, subcategories, content, and layout. Baymard recommends auto-directing strong category matches and using category suggestions when confidence is lower.[1]
