Choose the next step after add to cart
Match the cart response to the shopper's likely next task, then verify that every shopper receives an accurate confirmation.
Adding an item creates two obligations. Confirm what changed, then make the shopper's next useful action obvious.
The decision: keep the shopper on the product page when continued shopping is the likely next task; send them to the cart page when reviewing the order is the likely next task. Drawer, Popup notification, and Page are delivery formats for that decision, not performance rankings.
