Classify an image by its purpose on this page, then give its alternative the same job. Decorative images should be ignored by assistive technology. Informative images need the information they add. Functional images need the action or destination they control.[3]

W3C defines decorative images as images that add no information, including cases where adjacent text already provides the content, and recommends empty alternative text so screen readers can ignore them.[1] Its informative-image guidance supports concise alternatives that convey the image's relevant information or impression.[2]
